News from the TIFD Board

Annual Meeting on Saturday, November 24th
by RosieLee Camacho Salinas, President

Our annual meeting was held during lunch on Saturday at Texas Camp. Among the items on the agenda were electing new board members, reporting on finances, and some updates on running Texas Camp both now and in the future.

The president reported that the board had four vacant positions. The membership was provided the following slate for the vacant positions: Sara Chapman from Dallas, and Elsa Nelligan from Austin, both of whom agreed to serve a full three-year term; Bruce Bostwick from Austin, who agreed to serve a second three-year term; and RosieLee Camacho Salinas from Round Rock, who appointed herself to complete the one-year position vacated by the member who moved. Jack Alley moved that the slate presented be approved by acclamation. Having received a second to his motion, it carried and the membership approved it with no abstentions.

It was reported that TIFD continues have a budget which is sufficient to meet its obligations. Its investments have had good returns and the organization continues to be well-funded to meet its goals.

The president also reported that the board is considering a revision of the old co-chair method of running Texas Camp. The board has realized, given its current workload, that it cannot continue to run the annual camp without assistance. As the board considers how to revise the old method of running camp and attempts to move to a more transparent approach, we will keep the membership informed. The board will run the 2019 Thanksgiving Camp but plans to have new management approach for the 2020 camp.
