Texas International Folk Dancers’ 62nd annual Texas Camp will take place Thanksgiving weekend, November 26-29 2009 at scenic Greene Family Camp in Bruceville, Texas.
We are delighted to welcome Ercüment Kılıç and Monique Legaré as teachers at Texas Camp this year. Ercüment was a member of the Turkish Folklore Ensemble of Ankara, and was a member of the Turkish National Ensemble. He came to the United States in 1977 to obtain a college education. Taking up residence in Texas, he graduateed from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Economics. He has presented seminars and lectures in all fifty states of the U.S., and has also taught in Canada, England, Germany, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Japan. Monique Legaré is an internationally known teacher of Folk Dance and a native of Montréal, Canada. She trained and performed with les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal Ballet Company and studied dance in Canada, USA, Poland, and Puerto Rico. Monique graduated from the Choreography School in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, and did extensive research on folk dance in Hungary. She has taught on the North American continent, Poland, and Ukraine, and is an authority on French Canadian clogging. A versatile dancer and teacher, she directs the Monique Legaré International Dance Company and the Professional Dance Academy of Montgomery County. Monique Legaré’s website
